I can see CD-Rum in Device manager. Go to "Device Mgr."   Look for "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers."   Right-click on each  "IDE channel."   Click  "uninstall."  Do that with all the IDE channels you have.  Restart your computer.  When it restarts, The problem occurs in XP, Vista, and (apparently) Win7. EVERYONE, INCLUDING ME, HAS TO CREATE A RESTORE POINT BEFORE DOING THIS, OKAY?
