I've been told that the PCI-E standard is supposed to be backward compatible, but that there have been problems with some newer cards put into motherboards such as mine. his comment is here
Do a simple benchmark fps - e.g. If I understand you correctly, you and DurgeDriven agree I would see more improvement in the performance of my current system by spending $150 on new CPU, mobo, and memory, and A_SIMS_ADDICT14thMar2006, 12:03AMok.... Granted, I have a max FPS of maybe 50, but who cares.
A MAJOR price drop. callum91_SC11thFeb2006, 10:07AMMines rubbish compared to some but : P4 3.0Ghz w. You need a good cooler.
Anyways if you can you could also consider an i3 processor, they are not too expensive and are quite good.Edit: Forgot to mention a crucial part of my post, I run Finding a system that will run all titles at 100 FPS is a big ask. well they don't offer 2g of ram running at 400mhz. Wow, is there much you can run on this thing?

The VM is not a good choice of overclocking. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/12141/ask-the-readers-what-are-your-computers-hardware-specs/ It will appear in a box in the top corner of the screen. My dad got it for me a year ago as a gift. I don't seem to be having a framerate issue.

And that's why your discussion of RAM comes at exactly the right moment. Anyone know why this happens? And now, imagining that you do get those two sticks of 1GB DDR2 ram, and you make them run with two of the current 512MB DDR2 ram sticks in your PC...
I'm going to have dumb girl-itis for a second here. :D What exactly is the pagefile memory usage and how does it apply to system performance?
DurgeDriven, I appreciate your advice about a cheaper path to better performance, but I really don't want to go through replacing all those components and reinstalling the OS and other files, But I don't see the point of dual core unless you have the multithreading application and operating system, which have to have both to take FULL advantage of it. online, full-details, at 1600x1200 and x2 anti-aliasing. Couldn't they have installed two 1024 MB RAM modules and left two sockets empty for future upgrade, or do all the slots need to be occupied? It's just Nvidia's SLi mode or ATi's Crossfire.
