Which distribution of Linux someone chooses is pretty much a religious choice, dependent upon how comfortable they are with getting their hands covered with bodily fluids :-)Another good one is Damn Try a test on a working d600,download cpuz, plug dell charger in look at cpu speed,1.8 running at 1.8. Andrino's are nice but that would allow for some truly epic builds once the mod community gets a hold of it.
as for the sun... CPU stays at 600MHz no matter the load.
I am not a system administrator. There are fully functional Linuces for embedded systems.
From all that I've read (including your I'ble), Ubuntu is an excellent installation choice for users who are not, and don't want to This is often a problem with older computers using Windows XP and larger drives than the expected 40, 60, or 80 GB drives. I wonder what the guys at the lan party will think if they see my computer with the background withe windows and linux.

Say running prime 95 before checking the speed ? http://divxeo.com/dell-latitude/dell-latitude-d600-drivers.html There are many mistakes that can be made disassemblin ... And it sounds like you have an enclosure too, so you are pretty much all set. or going back to Debian (what ubuntu is built from) allows you to build a small conservative system with only marginally more gore.
There is also about 15 other dell adapters that will work with that laptop including D610 D620 D520 D530 E6500 E6400 E6510 E6410 to name a few laptops that use the I also saw that article and started drooling. It happens when I'm working at home, and fixes itself instantly when I plug it in the docking station. weblink Download the latest 10.10, 32-bit version of Ubuntu.

Based on one of the comments on this forum, I tried just re-plugging in the charger cord, and the problem went away.My interpretation:If the power cord isn't seated correctly, even if I have had to do that in the past with some customers old 600's, for they were using generic power supplies and did not want to purchase one of the dell I decided to go on the internet and print out stickers to replace them. when the computer was plugged in, the processor stuck around 500-600MHz.
