theres no dust on it. I created an image of my system on a portable drive, and restored the image on a 500 GB Hitachi 7200rpm, and well, the fan noises were gone. i took out the heatsink and cleaned it with a dry rag. Just remove the spring clip that holds the heatsink in place, use a good solvent (denatured alcohol is my preference) to remove the thermal pad and associated heatsink compound from the weblink Would something like this work in this PC: http://www.quietpc.com/uk/materials.php#apsff (sorry if I'm not allowed to link that here) Any other suggestions?

I second the recommendations on removing the grill(or at least opening it up a bit) and maybe looking at some quieter fans.
