Dell Dimension 9150 Does Not POST
There are four diagnostic lights which are suppose to come one but only lights 1,2 and 3 come on; light 4 does not appear. That will cause a short in the system. I replaced it with a Nvidia Geforce 9600gt Low Power. This was remedied by the addition of 2GB more RAM.This issue is seriously frustrating me! navigate here
The problem with it was a broken USB connector on the front of the machine. If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module (see "Memory"), and then restart the computer. I also have a Dimension 8400 that sometimes starts up fine but other times upon powering up and before it actually gets to the desktop it will automatically shut down. I have watched the lights in the back (a,b,c,d) and when it starts up all are green and continue to be green even upon this automatic shutdown. Try unplugging your hard drive and see if the PC turns on. The keyboard or system board may need to be replaced. Would a disc failure prevent the graphics card from outputting a signal?
