Dell Blinking Orange Power Light


After always owning clones, I can't say im at all impressed with the couple of 2 yo dell that were given to me. I'm having the same problem right now, I just tried another dell power supply I had lying around and the same thing is still happening. in all my years of IT. Was about to go down the expensive road ( New Power Supply, Mother Board ) Always the simple things. Hard to believe, but we independently went the same steps. But it got cold here over the weekend. Quick google found you guys.

The computer started working. if it works, I have to thank you guys for posting this in adavance.... It would have been better if they were bulging or ruptured, but sometimes they fail with no visible outward signs.

Power source is fine.

The biggest problem is to make sure that the jumpers are set to slave on ... We just had a power-outage and the GF's Dell would not boot after power came back. It’s a hardware problem with the possibility of infinite causes. Nothing blinks on and then off, no fans, nothing.

I had to disconnect everything and found that the faulty part was the connector for the floppy. Fitted it back in securely, and the system worked perfectly.
