Compaq Presario 900 Freezes

I'm afraid it's a motherboard issue, which I wouldn't be surprised at, considering that it's about 6 years old. Unable to run Task Manager. Update: Trying to be specific, I bought this Compaq Presario A900 laptop and have recently been trying to connect it to our house's wireless network (An Orange Livebox A278). If the freezing continues right away so you can't pinpoint the cause then go over your install closely using Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.
